My Work Aims To Honor And Expand The Literacies Of Liberation, The Languages We Must Learn To Pronounce Freedom.

Aesthetics and ideology contextualize matter. The tarot is useful in a world where the aesthetics of white supremacy distort and corrupt our perception of freedom, beauty and truth.

As a diviner, I appropriate my tools as a type of obsidian mirror, a kind of dark light that allows me to see psychically, the soul, the inner process, the hidden connections between all things. Tarot, like or as obsidian, alters our engagement with materiality.

Practicing divination and enacting prismatic perception is not an attempt toward total transparency of soul or cosmos, if that would even be possible, let alone ethical. The cards mean one thing in one context for one reading for one person. You shuffle them and their meaning, their image, their chart, their consideration changes. It’s not always crystal clear but you can trust the reading has a relevant gnosis nonetheless. As Édouard Glissant would say, the cards reserve a right to opacity by maintaining their mystery.

So often a reading engages generative frustration as we struggle to comprehend the augur, the omen, the silent language of the image or the chart. Divination demands patience. But it also is humorous, incisive and uncanny. But by endeavoring toward a de-hierarchalized kind of relations we can discover many openings toward multiplicity.

In this red reading we interrogate, uncover, re-collect, and re-configure the broken shards from the racist colonial shattering. The reading is a movement through a series of affects including anger, melancholia, desire, humor. A red reading claims space conducive to at least a temporary decolonization of the self. But the reading has an after-live, an echo, in that the words and images ideally ripple in the querent’s psyche till at last the augur actualizes. We write and read in watercolor.

THE TAROT

The tarot is an obsidian mirror that sharpens perception. Angles and angles and angles create a balanced portrait of greater depth. Each card shapes overlapping aesthetic engagements with materiality and its metaphysical conceptualizations. To re-define our engagement with the tarot requires a reconfigured aesthetic to animate the shadow mirror with renewed agency. The mirror is more than a means of vanity. Mirrors maintain virtue. Mirrors are the mouth of light, light that articulates physical existence. And lighting is truly everything.

The classical western conception attributes to the allegorical woman representative of prudentia, foresight, the mirror that facilitates self-reflexivity which enables prophetic perception. Prudence discerns the underlying truth from appearance’s deceit. It has a regulatory responsibility, measuring what’s right or what’s wrong for you, at whatever moment and in whatever place you pull cards. The mirror, like the hermit’s lantern, facilitates in-sight while still lighting the seeker’s path. So the postcolonial future is constructed by looking backward.

And for this we need a decolonial imaginary, that space that Emma Pérez refers to as “that time lag between the colonial and postcolonial, that interstitial space where differential politics and social dilemmas are negotiated.” The tarot can be a tool to engage and enact a decolonial imaginary with its intervention toward conditioned modes of subjected colonial consciousness through divine communion.

We need the decolonial imaginary to enact anti-colonial politics. We need to continue undoing colonial imperatives before any ‘postcoloniality’ can be claimed. We need to completely reimagine who you possibly could be when we are all finally free. When the card comes between your hands it is a moment to work with the flesh embodied before you. With the specific time-place of the reading, the artist’s inspired card, the querent, the question, and you, we reach toward an intersubjectivity that decolonized self-conceptualizations emphasize. Working through generations of psychological response patterns from the abrupt and consistent colonial disruption of deeply held cultural life and belief systems requires spiritual rehabilitation.

By using the reading to queer time and place, I aim to use the tarot as a decolonial tactic that allows us to recognize liberatory possibilities for a postcolonial future. Emma Perez reads Cherie Moraga to tell us “the possibility of a decolonial future is reliant upon the subversion of methods that produce normative notions of gender, sexuality, race, and being in general.” The reading requires comprehending temporal unity. To see into a tenable future red reading reconsiders our self understandings, sense of belonging and subjectivities.

THE FORBIDDEN DREAMS EROTIC READING:

This reading looks into the cards as gateways of sensual speculation to provide perspective into our innermost desires and erotic processes. The cards were made for pleasure. And in their divinatory capacity most predictive uses are usually geared toward love, erotic and sexual relations. Relationships are places to bond, merge, get lost, hide, blame, heal, to discover the self. Ultimately, we seek communion with others, we want to cum, together. But we are always being foiled, repressed or shamed. The power of love, Eros, is invincible, eternal and infinitely diverse in its manifestations. This reading uses a variety of explicitly nude decks and is designed to work through colonial puritanical shame as it inquires into further articulating sexual, erotic and relational liberation. This reading is for those who are comfortable or courageous enough to venture into the taboo, toward a naked beauty, a sensitive love. ASTROLOGY

is a profound tool for personal growth, and can significantly enhance self-knowledge when it works to shrink the fiction of the West. As Alice Sparkly Kat in Postcolonial Astrology writes: “Our job as astrologers is not to tell the story of the West better or to tell more stories using the West’s vocabulary but to acknowledge that the story of the West was built by real histories of pain. The West may be a story, but your trauma is real. Use Western astrology to only acknowledge the influence of the West and to talk about capital, power, labor…Western astrology is like race—it is an archetypal and magical imagination that classifies and limits. Any counseling session that does not acknowledge race, patriarchy, and capitalism will not be a counseling session that heals.”

We give the sky meaning, we are what keeps the heavens animate. The moment you were born has significant meaning. It is a map of the heavens, it is a promise of potentialities, and finger-print of grace. My astrological practice is historical. I calculate my charts in a whole-sign configuration, I use decans and fixed-stars, I use the major aspects. But I also examine the outer planets, and I use astrology despite and in resistance to the West.

THE NATAL READING:

If you have never had a birth-chart reading than I recommend this session first, before a revolutions reading. We will examine some star parans, decanic delineations and images and some current timing activations. We will work toward a shared language of the soul that is historic and intimately bespoke, so that you can tell your own story with your own planetary significations, syntax and diction.

THE REVOLUTIONS READING

This reading engages Medieval Islamicate timing techniques (fidaria, progressed lunations, transfer of years, solar revolutions, monthly transfers, transits, and great turns, great years) to examine and provide clarity on the chapters, paragraphs and punctuations of life. These are often booked for a client’s birthday or solar return in order to gain guidance for your year ahead but to also understand it in the larger context of larger life periods.

The self acceptance, scale and sense of significance that comes with learning about your chart is incomparable with anything else. It’s being witnessed by the universe. And it would be an honor to witness your stars.

LIMPIA SESSIONS

I am now offering in-person Limpias at my home in Golden Hill, San Diego. As I am engaged in on-going with my mentor Erika Buenaflor, I feel called to begin offering these cleansing rites and carrying on traditions. My ancestors understood filth as chaos. Filth is not sin but decay, disorder and disorientation that can be deeply damaging without the cleansing catharsis that restores, renews and rebalances wholistic coherence. When many generations have been traumatized, it takes a deep washing of the soul for future generations to heal. As a badass curanderx I take responsibility for the collective healing and cleansing we all need through these personalized sessions. These sessions will typically combine divination, platicas, and shamanic energy clearing. Depending on what is needed based they can involve cleansing with:

These sessions are great to break curses, clear away mal ojo, remove dense energies, bolster spiritual strength. Deploying sacred elements and relationships provide incredibly effective healing, purification and open up pathways for new beginnings.

THE COYOLXAUHQUI CONSULTATION

Like all my readings, this is a type of platica, that helps women and queers of color work against the injunctions of culture, family and ego that say we should fear our own darkness. Together we will not just interpret or describe your natal chart, present circumstances or consciousness but create a new reality through language and action, symbols and images. In the aspiration to evoke healing and transformation, we will use the chart, and the cards, finding words, images, spirits, and stories to work from the inside out. We will turn to the Moon of course, but also Mars and Saturn especially, probably Pluto, and Chiron, and surely the dark, cadent houses, to map an alchemical transformation grounded in a metaphysics of interconnectedness. Confidentiality

I commit to providing services that are within the purview of my training, practice and profession as a teacher, astrologer, and tarot reader. If a client’s needs exceed the scope of my training, I will refer the client to another specialist when possible. My services are an alternative form of healthcare and can provide meaningful support for the processes of self-actualization, but is distinct from mental healthcare, medical care, legal or financial advice.

All information shared during a reading is kept confidential between the client and I. It will not be shared with others without explicit consent. Digital records of client’s natal charts, recordings of sessions &/or spreads are shared with clients via private wetransfer link.

I seek to convey the messages as compassionately and authentically as possible. Although various forms of predication are part of what I can offer using astrological techniques, my practice does not offer definitive future-prediction. Spirit manifests in multi-dimensional and multivalent manners and I am committed to helping clients face massive uncertainty by trusting the clarity a reading yields, while identifying possibilities and periods of potentiality in one's life.

My practice does not attempt to know another’s thoughts or actions, past, present, etc. if they are not consensually aware of or participating in the reading. Again the reading is focused on your growth and development, as I aim to calm the client as we dive into the deep waters of the subconscious to explore the emotions, the creative imagination, and the deepest sources of faith.

Format

All readings, except limpias, are conducted via Zoom, a free audio & video conferencing software. After booking you will receive a zoom link for the reading. Each reading is opened with a grounding practice and a candle is anointed in your honor. The reading is a sacred space, aimed towards empowerment, creative understanding & healing. Each reading is aimed at providing a greater sense of peace and acceptance through creative envisioning of yourself and your circumstances. We work together to radically imagine new outcomes and modes of responding to what you are growing through. By the end of the reading you will have greater clarity, peace and acceptance of your hearts deepest truths.

Sliding Scale

In aim to make my consulting practice a feminist praxis, I offer a limited number of sliding-scale readings for QBIPOC folx who wish to work with me but lack the financial flexibility to pay my full fees. I believe healing services should be as accessible as possible for as many QBIPOC as possible and as a browntrans femme myself, I can only make a limited number of these sessions available to maintain my livelihood. This work is in solidarity and in service to folx who are trans, gender non-conforming/nonbinary, immigrant, non-white-passing POC, Indigenous, care-workers (including SWs), and progressive activists.

To support my sliding scale work, I invite folks with larger disposable incomes to pay more than my standard fee. If you would like to sponsor a full session for someone with less disposable income, please do or donate more when checking out.

Rescheduling And Cancellation Policies

Please note that sessions cannot be booked less than 48 hours in advance as each consultation requires hours of preparation in advance of our session. Once sessions are booked, this prevents other potential clients from accessing services at that time. As such, in order to honor the advance preparation and the work we do together:

Consultations can be rescheduled without additional charge up to 48-hours in advance of the scheduled time
Rescheduling with less that 48-hours notice will require an additional fee of 50% of the original compensation paid for services.
- As some consultations are made available at a sliding scale, 50% of the original compensation will vary based on each client’s individual circumstances.
If clients need to cancel a session for any reason, they can do so up to 48 hours before the scheduled session to receive a full refund minus any applicable processing fees.
Cancellations less than less than 48-hours in advance of the scheduled session forfeits the services and total cost of the session.
- This is to compensate for time spent in preparation for the session and the time spent in the session itself.
- Missing a session without prior communication will require purchasing the service anew to reschedule.
I am unable to offer refunds for completed readings.
No-shows are ineligible for refunds.
- A session will be considered missed/no show if a client is 20 minutes late past the session’s scheduled start time.
